English Discussion Club (Kashiwa)

The English Discussion Club organizes fun and interactive activities in English. 

With our diverse student facilitators' guidance, enhance your English and build friendships through engaging interactions.

The club engages in activities every Thursday throughout the year and are always welcoming new members! If you're interested, please do come and join us at your convenience.

Week 1: TED talk and group discussion
Week 2: Story watching and group discussion (10 to 15 minute narrative video)
Week 3: Casual discussion with guest speakers
Week 4: Game day (ex. presentation roulette)

New! English Discussion Club 3 Days Summer Special

Would you like to improve your English conversation skills with a diverse group of student facilitators at the Kashiwa Campus?
This summer, as a special event of the English Discussion Club, we will hold the EDC 3 Days Summer Special.

Join us for a series of activities under the theme "Own, Others, Onward" to enhance your English communication skills.

¡ñ Event: English Discussion Club 3 Days Summer Special
¡ñ Dates and Times: (Each session from 10:00 to 12:00)
July 7 (Mon) - OWN (Drawing + Explaining, Watching a clip, etc.)
July 8 (Tue) - OTHERS (Human Bingo, Watching a clip and discussing in a group, etc.)
July 9 (Wed) - ONWARD (Watching a clip, group activity, etc.)
¡ñ Location: Kashiwa Library Conference Room
¡ñ Eligibility: Students conducting research at the Kashiwa Campus, and students from other campuses affiliated with departments at Kashiwa Campus
¡ñ Level: Beginner to Intermediate (You can have basic conversations with your lab mates, but you may have difficulty discussing your research.)
¡ñ Capacity: 20 participants
¡ñ Fee: Free
¡ñ Registration Period: June 25, 2025 (Wed.) to July 3, 2025 (Thu.) 5:00 PM
